Care - How lucky are you
Are
you part of the 5 percent, or the 95 percent?
Some people are just born lucky. You know who I’m talking
about – the ones that hit the genetic jackpot.
They’re drop-dead gorgeous. They can eat anything and never
gain an ounce. They don’t work out but have amazing muscle
tone.
Well, some people are lucky like that with their skin type. They are
the 5% that will never get acne as teenagers, and who maintain clear
and glowing complexions through adult life.
| For
most of us, looking good means we have to work at it. As far as our
skin goes, that means: |
|
 |
Knowing our particular skin type and
understanding how to care for it |
|
 |
Treating problem skin as soon as possible |
|
 |
Practicing a daily regimen of skin care. |

DO YOU
KNOW YOUR SKIN TYPE?
Most people don't think of their skin as an organ but in fact,
it’s our body’s largest organ. Skin that is clogged
and unhealthy is not just a beauty problem, it affects the way we feel
about ourselves. Caring for your skin properly is important for your
own self-image and attractiveness, but also to prevent future skin
issues like scarring.
Our skin absorbs toxins and takes a beating from environmental factors
every day. |
The following is a general list of skin types to help you begin
learning more about your best approach to personal skincare.
Normal Skin:
Has even skin tone, good elasticity and is smooth and firm to the
touch. Pores are small to medium-sized. Many people who have "normal
skin" in fact really have other skin types . . . but by carefully
providing the right care and attention, most of us can attain the
appearance of a normal skin tone!
Oily skin:
Is characterized by a shiny appearance. Pores may be larger and more
visible and due to excess oil production, there's more of a tendency
toward pimples, blackheads and whiteheads. Treatment through Healthy
Pores™ will control the amount of oil produced and eliminate
blackheads and whiteheads.
Dry Skin:
This type of skin is sensitive to hot and cold weather, and can feel
tight or have visible flaking -- especially after cleansing. Dry skin
has a matte finish, small pores, and tends to become drier and more
wrinkled with age compared with other skin types.
Many factors can cause dry skin. Sometimes it's hereditary and occurs
year-round. Some people have seasonally dry skin that occurs mostly
during cold, dry winter months. Dry skin is also linked to the natural
aging process. Healthy Pores™ balances the levels of oil
production and encourages natural hydration that will normalize the dry
skin condition to give the appearance of healthy glowing skin.
Combination skin:
Most of us have this kind of skin, with an oily center area or a T-zone
across the forehead, nose, and chin, and areas of dryness on the
cheeks, and around the eyes and neck. Acne will be more active in the
areas that are oily.
Healthy Pores™ balances the internal system so that extreme
combinations are eliminated and problem areas targeted without
negatively impacting other areas.
Sensitive Skin:
A person with sensitive skin has a lot more trouble with environmental
factors than the average person. Skin burns more easily in the sun,
there may be frequent reactions to cosmetics and rashes or a burning
sensation can even develop from weather conditions. Problem skin often
accompanies this skin type as it is very reactionary. Healthy
Pores™ solutions contain properties that are exceptionally
soothing to both the internal and external systems in order to maintain
a clear and healthy complexion.
WHY DO
MY SKIN PROBLEMS ALWAYS SHOW UP ON MY FACE?
Our skin is the largest organ on our bodies, but it’s really
the skin that we present to the world every day that concerns most of
us. It’s on our faces, necks and shoulders that we want to
have really great looking skin!
Ironically, those same areas are targeted areas for acne.
It’s where the pimples, zits, nodules and cysts grow.
The reason the problems appear here is because there are thousands of
very fine hairs growing on your face, neck, back, chest and shoulders.
Each hair has a tiny little gland that is attached to the hair follicle
under your skin which produces oil. When too much oil is produced,
pores get clogged up with the oil and dead skin cells and an outbreak
occurs. The oil production is determined by the level of hormone
activity in your body.
SOME
ZITS ARE MORE DANGEROUS TO SKIN THAN OTHERS!
Blackheads - are caused
by partially blocked pores. The "black" appearance of them is not
caused by dirt, but by the melanin pigment from the dead skin cells.
Left untreated, these can remain embedded in your skin for years.
Whiteheads - are caused
by completely blocked pores. The white appearance of them is caused by
the bacteria inside the blocked pore. Left untreated, these can remain
embedded in your skin for years.
Papules - are small,
red, tender bumps or spots.
Pustules - are larger,
red and inflamed pus-filled spots which can scar if picked at
Nodules - are large
hard bumps under the skin's surface which can cause serious scarring
Cysts - are similar to
nodules, but can be deeply inflamed and infected. Cysts can cause
serious scarring
As you can see, acne can leave its mark long after you may no longer
even suffer from acne.
